In 2022, I auditioned for the Netflix series AlRawabi School for Girls, unsure if my quest for self-discovery would translate into a meaningful role. Landing “Shams” in its second season—premiering on February 15, 2024—affirmed how leaps of faith can guide us toward new personal truths.
Being directed by Tima Shomali and working with Tara Abboud, Sarah Yousef, Tara Atalla, Kira Yaghnam, Raneem Haitham, and Karen Wazen was more than a lesson in performance; it was an exploration of young women’s lives.
AlRawabi School for Girls tackles bullying, societal expectations, and the inner struggles of adolescence. Portraying “Shams” reminded me that storytelling can illuminate personal growth as much as it sheds light on broader social realities.
Over 10,000 user responses felt humbling, particularly as it broke into Netflix’s top 5 most-watched series. In France and Canada, where it reached 1.7 times the average TV demand, I witnessed how authenticity transcends borders. Yet the true triumph lies in the show’s deeper resonance.
Performing “Shams” sparked conversations that connect audiences worldwide, underscoring my conviction that art, at its best, does more than entertain—it elevates our shared human story.
